Superconductivity in the (Pb,V)Sr2(Ca,Tb)Cu2Oz system

A new (Pb,V)-1212 cuprate with the composition (Pb0.6V0.4)Sr-2(Ca1-xTbx)Cu2Oz has been synthesized. it is found that the formation of the 1212 phase is sensitive to the ratio of Tb to Ca and that a nearly single phase is obtained in the narrow range of 0.4 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 0.5. The sample exhibits T(onset)=61 K, T-c(zero)=51 K, and T(Meissner)=56 K. Thermoelectric power measurements indicate that the superconducting samples are in the underdoped state.
