한우와 중국 육우 산업의 경쟁력과 시장접근성

초록

The rapid growth of Chinese beef market offered a chance to Hanwoo’s expedition to foreign market. However, there is a potential pitfall exists when Korean beef market is liberalized to China in reverse. This study investigates the efficiencies and productivity advantages in Korea and Chinese beef industries, using the bootstrap DEA and Malmquist index. The empirical results indicate that Korea is slightly better than China for the pure beef productivity and suggest that Chinese beef cannot be a threat to Hanwoo industry in the short-term. Furthermore, the opportunity and challenge factors of both industries are analyzed.
