초록

Some optical see-through (OST) head-mounted displays use a mask to reduce the effect of external light on virtual objects. The mask blocks the external light, and occlusion is applied to the optical system to provide depth cues to users. Unlike hard-edge occlusion, soft-edge occlusion implements occlusion using only one mask, which creates blur because it is out of focus. And because the blur affects the virtual objects and background, the precise blur calculation should be applied at the occlusion to improve performance and derive a new pattern on the mask. This study used a Gaussian kernel to analyze blur, but the process may not accurately represent the point spread function (PSF) under out-of-focus conditions. Hence, the researchers addressed this limitation by adjusting the shape and the scale parameters of the generalized Gaussian.
