A study on efficiency of different kinds of moisture content measurement equipments for enhancing reliability of quality of recovered paper bales

The reliability of two kinds of moisture measuring equipments were verified by comparing their test results of Korean recovered paper bale with the results of the conventional oven-drying method. As a result first, both the NIR and microwave sensor equipments were able to objectively measure the moisture content of the recovered paper bales. However, the measuring values of some recovered paper bales that have a largely uneven moisture content had significant deviations between measured equipments. This was because the number of measurable samples was not enough in this study. It is need to accumulate the number of measurements to improve the reliability of measuring results in case of the poor recovered paper bales. Second, regardless of the storage location and environment of the recovered paper bales, the test results of moisture content obtained by NIR sensor and oven-drying methods were consistent. © 2020 Korean Technical Assoc. of the Pulp and Paper Industry.
