Effects of a diffraction in a free-electron laser with two frequencies

We have analyzed the effects of optical diffraction in a two-frequency free-electron laser oscillator. We have developed a 3-dimensional free-electron laser (3D FEL) code with diffraction effects. The diffraction effects on the energy spread of the electron beam and on the electron beam's radius are investigated by using the multi-particle numerical simulations of 200 passes through the optical cavity and are optimized for a FEL facility by using a 3D FEL code. Comparative studies of the radiation output with and without diffraction for the range of energy spread from 0 to 7% of the electron beam and the range of the electron beam radius from 10 to 15 mm are presented by using a 3D FEL code that included the optical diffraction that we have developed.
