A Preliminary Study on the Causative and Passive Homomorphic Markers in Korean and Chinese
  • 유석

초록

This study examines the causative and passive homomorphic markers that exist in both Korean and Chinese, analyzing their syntactic and semantic characteristics when realized as causative constructions, passive constructions, and ambiguous constructions. In particular, it focuses on a comparative analysis of Korean causative-passive ambiguous constructions and Chinese passive constructions formed with ‘讓, 叫, 給’, which exhibit commonalities in their realization conditions. Despite differences in realization methods—morphological derivation in Korean and syntactic means in Chinese—this study confirms that causative, passive, and ambiguous constructions share underlying structural and functional characteristics. Furthermore, it observes that the realization conditions of Korean causative-passive ambiguous constructions, as discussed in previous research—such as the ‘reflexive relationship’, ‘adversity interpretation in passive constructions', ‘predicate transitivity’, and the omission of NP2—align closely with the realization conditions of Chinese passive constructions involving ‘讓, 叫, 給’.
