A Case of Intraosseous Cavernous Hemangioma of the Inferior Turbinate

Various types of tumors can occur within the nasal cavity, among which non-epithelial tumors are relatively rare and most are benign. Being a non-epithelial tumor, intraosseous cavernous hemangioma (ICH) is very rare and makes up 0.7% to 1.0% of the total bone tumors. It can occur anywhere in the body but mainly in the vertebrae and calvarium. In addition, when it occurs, it does mostly in the maxilla, mandible and nasal bone but uncommonly in the facial bones. It is thus extremely rare for ICHs to occur in the inferior turbinate and only five such case reports have been published to date in English literature and none in Korea. Here we report a case of ICH of the right inferior turbinate in a 43-year-old male. © 2023 Korean Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
