The evolution of an electron beam was investigated in a tapered helical wiggler field with a self-electric field and a self-magnetic field. The quality and the stability of the electron beam became a low grade because of the three-dimensional effects on the off-axis electrons. We applied an axial-guide field and used a tapered wiggler to overcome those defects. To analyze the quality and the stability of the electron beam and to optimize the tapering parameter, we investigated the evolutions of the emittance, the density of electron beam, and the Poincare maps by using three-dimensional simulations.
