A study on the Participation Motives and Values of Sivler Generation Engaged in Park Golf

초록

This study investigated the motives for participation and perceived values of silver-generation engaged in park golf. Qualitative research was conducted for the study, and the study subjects were 15 park golfers who were 65 years or older and had more than 3 years of park golf experience. The region was centered around some areas of Gangwon-do Province. Data sampling was conducted using a non-probability sampling method called purposeful sampling, and semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted. The interview content was transcribed, and triangulation method was applied,and the results are as follows. First, the motives for the silver generation to participate in park golf were economic cost efficiency, the transition from intense phycial activities, autonomous choice, and recommendations from friends and people around them. Second, the value of park golf was health promotion, improvement of waist and joints, relief of chronic diseases, convenience of accessibility, social community, sense of accomplishment, increased self-confidence and sense of belonging, relief of depression and lethargy, and improved cognitive ability. Therefore, it is believed that the participation of the silver generation in park golf will lead to improved health in old age, the realization of potential, and improvement in quality of life through continuous participation due to convenient accessibility and cost efficiency.
