초록
The incineration rate of municipal solid waste(MSW) has been increased because of difficulty in securing the proper disposal site of MsW in Korea. The main goal of incineration is to reduce the volume of waste, however large amounts of bottom ash and fly ash were generated in the incineration process. Their treatment has been taken a growing interest because of potential toxicity of hazardous heavy metals. But heavy metal is less leached out from bottom ash. It is possible to use bottom ash as an adsorbent, because it is a porous material. But it has a broad particle size distribution. However, after screening size classes of +20, -20, -48, -80, -150mesh were investigated their adsorption characteristics of heavy metals on various particle size. Adsorption experiment was conducted by using synthetic(Cu and Ni) wastewater and actual plating wastewater as a function of reaction time(10~180min), liquid/solid(L/S) ratio(2~100) and particle size(20~150mesh). As result of adsorption experiment, the adsorption rate of heave metal increased with decreasing bottom ash particle size and with increasing liquid/solid ratio. Bottom ash exhibited a strong affinity for Cu than Ni under the same reaction condition. In addition, the adsorption rate of heavy metals in synthetic wastewater exhibited the higher than that in actual plating wastewater.
