초록

Procedures for plant regeneration via organogenesis and somatic embryogenesis have been established for Allium victorialis var. platyphyllum Makino, one of the popular alpine mountain vegetables in Korea. Direct shoot formation occurred when bulb explants were cultured on MS medium containing 0.2 mg/L NAA and 2.0 mg/L zeatin. Somatic embryos were induced on MS medium supplemented with 0.2 mg/L NAA, 0.2 mg/L BAP and 1.0 mg/L picloram after 4-5 weeks of culture in the dark at 25. We also tested the micropropagation ability of different populations of Allium victorialis var. platyphyllum Makino collected from four different areas. Using shoot tips as explants, as many as 98 new shoot tips were obtained from a single shoot tip in four weeks of culture, giving rise to multiplication rates of approximately 7.0x10(8) shoots per year from a single starting shoot tip.
