Objective: To study the chemical constituents in the roots of Indigofera kirilowii. Methods: Compounds were isolated and purified by liquid-liquid extraction, repetitive silica gel chromatography, and re-crystallization. Their structures were identified on the basis of various modern spectroscopic analyses. Results: From the alcohol extract of the roots of I. kirilowii the following compounds have been isolated and identified: α-β anomers (3:1) of 3, 4-di-O-[3-nitropropanoyl]-D-glucopyranoses (I and II), ononin (7-hydroxy-4′-methoxyisoflavone-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, III), and α-β anomers (1:1) of 6-O-[3-nitropropanoyl]-D-glucopyranose (IV and V). Conclusion: Compounds I and II are new ones, compound III is reported from the plants of Indigofera Linn., and compounds IV and V are isolated from the title plant for the first time.
