초록

In this study, the deterioration rate of water distribution system was analyzed based on corrosion depth estimation equations. The corrosion depth estimation equation was selected based on the buried environment and corrosion characteristics, focusing on internal corrosion depth, which is deemed more critical for domestic water distribution systems. Initially, Romanoff's data which measured corrosion depth over the elapsed years for a single pipe, along with the domestic water supply design standards were used to establish the standard limit of water pipe usage at 0.2. Subsequently, MCS (Monte Carlo Simulation) was applied to randomly generate the numbers of the aging index determined. The cumulative damage of the water pipes was analyzed according to the service year, and the overall deterioration rate of the entire water distribution system was assessed and compared. The analysis results showed that the deterioration rate of the water distribution system varies significantly depending on the corrosion depth estimation equation, and it was confirmed that the long-term corrosion depth has a greater impact on aging than the initial corrosion depth. © 2025 Korea Water Resources Association.
